PakistanVisa Exit

I am writing this short post especially for overlanders getting the Pakistan visa in Tehran. Since the only option there is a 14 days transit visa, it might be useful to know the conditions and consequences in case of overstay beyond the expiry date. This info might be also helpful to all travellers in general, however, given the fact that Pakistan is an extended country and requires much time to be visited thoroughly.

I have then found this handy table in an official Pakistani government site. It is a bit outdated (2014), but still applicable I believe. My personal experience supports this theory.

S.No Period of over-stay Existing  Surcharges New Surcharges
1. Upto 2 weeks
2. Above 2 weeks to 1 month US $ 20/- US$50
3. Above 1 month to 3 months US $ 50/- US$200
4. Above 3 months to 1 year US $ 100/- US$400

In my case, I exceeded my 14 days visa of 11 more days, to 25 total days. Hence, being within the above-mentioned 14 days “grace period”, I could leave free of charge. I advise you to show yourself quite assertive when dealing with the police officer at the border. State you know very well the overstay conditions. Try however to find a trivial excuse for the reason behind your overstay. Just say you faced medical inconveniences or transportation issues, for example.

As for me, I had nevertheless to wait for about 45 minutes before being issued an entirely new “exit” Visa, which unfortunately “occupied” another page in my passport.

Notwithstanding, the new, exit Visa was granted completely free of charge.

If you have any fresh update about the topic, please feel free to send me your comments.
